About me

A bit about me,

My name is Chris McQuillan and I’m proud and fortunate to have worked in the creative industry since graduating from Sunderland University in 2006. Prior to studying Animation and Design my background was predominantly Fine Art – I loved to be creative, to draw, sketch, to make. A huge David Lynch fan.

I wanted a new challenge from my own work and in doing so I found an area of creative that balanced both my creative and technical ability. I have been able to blend my creative and technical skills across a range of projects and specialisms.

Throughout this journey I’ve had the pleasure of working across a wide and diverse range of projects and key areas of the creative industry that range from games, interactive, VR, projection mapping, TV Commercials, online promos, music videos, idents, branding and other associated digital projects.

I currently teach at Sunderland University as Programme Leader for Animation and Games Art, alongside my visual practice within the creative industry. I have a vast range of experience and have had the pleasure of working with a wide and diverse range of clients that include National Geographic, Durham County Council, the arts council, S&DR200 festival, Gala Theatre, Audi, Mountain Dew, Tivoli casino, Barclaycard and Canon to name but a few.

I balance my teaching and industry practice to provide students with an authentic lens into the creative industry allowing me to remain current and upto date with various trends and technologies whilst preparing students for their journey into creative.
